Richard Missaghie

Richard practices in the area of commercial real estate law including acquisitions and dispositions of assets of all sizes and industry classes, private and institutional financing, joint ventures, co-ownerships and leasing. Richard also practices in the area of personal injury and disability denial law where he represents those who have been injured in accidents and those who have been wrongly denied disability claims with their insurer.

Richard is the Managing Lawyer and founder of Missaghie Law. Richard holds a master’s degree in economics from McGill University and completed his law degree at Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto. He is a member of the Law Society of Ontario.

Prior to starting Missaghie Law, Richard practiced for several years at Torys LLP, a large national law firm where Richard worked on some of the most complex corporate and real estate transactions in the country and prior to that Richard worked at another large national law firm where Richard worked on various medical malpractice defense litigation cases. Richard started Missaghie Law to utilize his experience in a more personal environment where he can help advocate for individuals and organizations.

Representative Commercial Real Estate Transactional Experience:

  • Counsel to a leading owner and operator in the Canadian seniors housing market, on various acquisition and financing transactions from CMHC and non-CMHC insured lenders secured by assets located in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.
  • Counsel to various landlords and tenants in the preparation and negotiation of commercial lease agreements.
  • Counsel to a large national automotive dealership owner on various acquisitions of single dealerships and large portfolios as well as the negotiation and completion of credit agreements with all major Canadian banking institutions.
  • Counsel to a prominent developer in the Greater Toronto Area on the acquisition and sale of various office buildings, vacant land, farm, residential and other commercial properties in Ontario.
